Diyar Academy Alum and Soccer Star Featured on Minnesota Public Radio
Diyar Youth Academy alum and international soccer star, Honey Thaljieh gives Town Hall forum address as part of Windows into Palestine Festival in Minneapolis. Co-founder and first captain of Palestine’s first national football (soccer) team, she has overcome numerous cultural and political obstacles to become a role model for women and youth in the Middle East and beyond.
Following a series of career-ending knee injuries, Ms. Thaljieh now focuses her passion on empowering the next generation of Palestinian youth. She has initiated and developed sports initiatives for thousands of boys and girls throughout the West Bank and Gaza.
Today, Honey is a dynamic advocate voice for equality through sport. She now works with FIFA to promote gender equality and human rights.
Honey is also recognized as a Champion for Peace by the organization Peace and Sport and serves as ambassador for several pro-social sports organizations. She has spoken at many prestigious international organizations, including United Nations, UNESCO, UNICEF, and TEDx Zurich.
