About Marc Lamont Hill

Marc Lamont Hill is the host of HuffPost Live and BET News, a former political contributor for CNN and a Professor of Media Studies and Urban Education at Temple University.

Dr. Hill has been a longtime social justice activist and organizer and now works closely with the ACLU Drug Reform Project focusing on drug informant policy and campaigns to end the death penalty and release numerous political prisoners. He is a bold advocate for Palestinian rights. This vocal support has drawn national attention and fierce backlash, including CNN’s termination of his position.

An award-winning journalist, Dr. Hill has received numerous awards from the National Association of Black Journalists, GLAAD, and the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. He is also the author of three books: the award-winning Beats, Rhymes and Classroom Life: Hip-Hop Pedagogy and the Politics of IdentityThe Classroom and the Cell: Conversations on Black life in America; and The Barbershop Notebooks: Reflections on Culture, Politics and Education.
